The aim of the market towns initiative (MTI) is to bring a new lease of life to market towns, so that they provide convenient access to the services that townspeople and surrounding rural communities depend on. Hampshire County Council, in partnership with South East of England Development Agency (SEEDA), is leading an initiative which includes Emsworth and Hayling Island within the Borough of Havant and Lee on Solent within the Borough of Gosport.
