Let the Good Times Roll for Eastoke’s ‘Playing on the Plaza’ and once again the sun shone down upon the plaza, but the wind took its toll and kept us on our toes but didnt appear to spoil the enjoyment of folks who braved the wind, which did cause a few sound issues.
The summer fun on Hayling sea front on Sunday 22 June carried on, when Blues and Boogie band ‘Red Jackson’ took to Eastoke Corner’s ‘Liveability Plaza’, for the third of the season’s ‘Playing on the Plaza’, free live music events.
Formed in 2005, the band which released its first album in 2006, features Phil Mills on guitar and harmonica, backed by a rhythm section comprising Chicken-King Schultz on drums, and Lafayette Louis (aka -’Teej’) playing acoustic double bass. They perform - to quote their website...............
“A mix of blues styles from the slow, haunting blues of the Mississippi Delta to the rolling beat of Chicago, picking up street grooves from New Orleans, Texan boogie and a touch of hill-country ragtime along the way. This is the blues of the '40s and '50s, the blues of Muddy Waters, Howling Wolf, T-Bone Walker and Big Bill Broonzy.”
Below is a short slide show of the event.
